The Indiana Court of Appeals is Changing Again

Earlier this week, the Chief Justice of Indiana gave her ninth State of the Judiciary address. During the address, Chief Justice Rush announced that Judge Margret Robb, the first woman Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals, is retiring.

This means the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission, which has had a busy few years selecting nominees for vacancies on the appellate courts, will be doing so yet again. Governor Holcomb’s most notable legacy in Indiana may be shaping the appellate courts in Indiana for the next several decades, given the number of appointments he has made during his time as Indiana governor.

My first job as an attorney just out of law school was clerking for Judge Robb. The experience, probably more than any other, prepared me for being an attorney. It was during my time as her clerk that I learned a deeper understanding of and love for the law, and how to explain and apply the law through writing.
