Indiana Delinquent Offenders Can Seek Early Removal From Registry

Under current Indiana law, a child who is adjudicated delinquent for a sex offense can be ordered to register as a sex offender. It is the State’s belief that these offenders then must register for a minimum of ten years and, in some cases, for life.

But a new law that takes effect on July 1st will allow those registrants to seek removal from the registry. The good news? There is no minimum amount of time one must register before seeking removal. Also, a registrant can request removal as often as he likes under the new statute.

If you were placed on the Indiana Sex and Violent Offender Registry as a result of a juvenile delinquency adjudication, and you would like to seek removal from the registry, consult an attorney about how you can take advantage of the new removal process outline in Senate Enrolled Act 464.
